Bamboo Flooring to Replace Wooden Flooring

Many people today have been noticing that bamboo flooring has been gaining in popularity.  It is thought that bamboo flooring may soon replace traditional wooden flooring.  This is for many reasons.  These reasons will be discussed further here.  You will soon see that there are only positive reasons for switching to bamboo flooring.

BambooFirst, bamboo is a type of grass.  It is not a tree.  Traditional wooden flooring is made from trees.  These trees take decades to grow.  Once the trees mature, they are cut down and are forever dead and they will never regrow.  Bamboo, on the other hand, will regenerate and regrow itself each time it is harvested.  Bamboo matures in as little as 4 to 6 years.  When it is cut it grows back quickly as grass would when it is mowed.  This is much more environmentally friendly than cutting down trees for use of wooden flooring.

Bamboo flooring is also much stronger and more durable than traditional wooden flooring.  Did you know that bamboo has a tensile strength of 28,000 per square inch?  That is a 5000 tensile strength more than steel!  Bamboo flooring is as strong and hard as maple flooring.  Bamboo flooring is also more stable and resistant to temperature changes and moisture changes than oak flooring.  This is again a much more positive advantage for having bamboo flooring rather than traditional wooden flooring.

Bamboo flooring is also just as easy to maintain as traditional wooden flooring.  You must use a cleaner that is specifically made for bamboo floors, as you would a wooden floor.  You will also want to protect your bamboo floors by placing furniture protectors on your furniture to prevent scratching and wear and tear of your bamboo floor.

Bamboo flooring installation is also just like traditional wooden flooring installation.  It is best to let the bamboo sit for a few days to adjust to the temperature and humidity of the area it is to be installed in.  This is just as you would do when installing a wooden floor.  You can install bamboo flooring by gluing it down, nailing it down, or floating it.  Again, this is just as you would install wooden flooring.  Always have a professional help you install any flooring.

Now you have seen and heard all of the reasons that you should consider bamboo flooring over traditional wooden flooring.  Only positive things can be said about bamboo flooring.  It is both environmentally friendly and more durable than traditional wooden flooring.  If you take the time to check out bamboo flooring, you will see that it is truly much more beautiful and exquisite than traditional wooden flooring.  Make the switch to bamboo flooring.  You will be glad you did.
